Why giving your password to another app is risky
They can act as you
Whoever has your password can sign in as you: read your messages, post, and follow or unfollow accounts.
Your data leaves your hands
Your account information ends up on servers you don't control, with no easy way to delete it.
Instagram may block the login
Sign-ins from unknown servers can trigger Instagram's security checks and make you verify your account or change your password.
How it works without a login
Instagram lets you download a copy of your own data from Accounts Centre. You request it on Instagram itself, where you're already signed in. Then you select that ZIP in Unfollowers, and your browser reads it on your device. Follow the step-by-step guide.
Login apps vs. Unfollowers
| Compared | Apps that ask for your login | Unfollowers |
|---|---|---|
| Instagram password | Required | Never asked |
| Your data | Goes to their servers | Stays in this browser |
| Access to your account | Can act as you | None. It reads a file |
| Your history | In their database | Yours. Back it up anytime |
What to expect
The export is a snapshot, not live tracking. Your first import shows who doesn't follow you back; import a newer export later to see who unfollowed you. Unfollowers never follows or unfollows anyone.
Common questions
Do I sign in to anything?
Only to Instagram, to request your own data. Unfollowers has no accounts and never asks for your password.
Does Unfollowers connect to Instagram?
No. It never contacts Instagram. It only reads the ZIP you select.
Where is my data stored?
In this browser. Nothing is uploaded. You can export a backup and restore it on another device.
Is it free?
Yes. There's no account to create and nothing to pay.
Check your unfollowers safely
Import your Instagram ZIP. No password, and nothing leaves your device.
